DOWNLOAD SUPPORT
Petroscout is an Excel based program that is digitally signed to allow for users to safely download and run it but today’s IT preferences may require you to do a few extra steps. Prior to opening Petroscout we strongly recommend you save it directly on your computer rather than on a network or cloud drive as it will be much more stable this way. Locate the file in your Folders app and do the following steps:
Right click on the file and select Properties.
At the bottom you will see Security (right under Attributes). Check the Unblock checkbox and press [Apply] and you will now be able to open Petroscout.
Open the file and Enable Macros and trust the publisher if asked to do so. Petroscout will do some quick updates and may or may not ask for your email. If it does, enter the email you used when downloading Petroscout, no pass code is required for the demo. It will ask you to agree to the Terms of Use and then you will be ready to take Petroscout for a tour.
Software Required
Petroscout requires two readily available software solutions to run: the engine utilizes Microsoft Excel to pull data, build wellbore schematics, generate reports, collect user data entry, etc. and Google Earth Pro (download for free here) to generate geospatial maps for visualization of wells, pipelines, facilities, dispositions, etc.
By harnessing the power of Excel, Petroscout can very quickly create, verify, and store user well, pipelines and facility lists which are perfect for generating ARO reports, project management, prospecting, etc.

ISSUE
REPORTING
Petroscout is a new software and may present issues on some computers for various reasons (older version of Excel, slow network or internet speeds, printer connection issues, etc.). Petroscout should be able to search for wells, etc. in less than 5 seconds and reports typically take under a second to load unless they are summary reports.
If you are running into issues where the software speeds are much slower or errors are occurring, please either submit the issue via Petroscout from the Help form and clicking on Report Software Issue in the first tab or if you prefer, email us at support@petroscout.ca and provide information and screen captures. It is our goal to clean-up these issues quickly so that our users can benefit from the speed that Petroscout provides when it is in the proper operating environment.
There are over 475,000 wells, 330,000 pipelines, 140,000 facilities available in Petroscout at this time so issues may present themselves occasionally due to the vast data possibilities. Please report issues to us where there is an error in the data analytics, reports, wellbore schematics, etc. so that we can continually improve our data manipulation practices.
